comedy clip: The Ugly Club courtesy of Upright Citizens Brigade

Simple and fantastic premise - a support group for ugly people: courtesy of the UCB. The reason I love this particular skit, and the thing I find most appealing in a lot of the sketch comedy I enjoy, is that it waits until the last moment to deliver the truly gut-busting line. You’ll chuckle throughout, but the skit turns truly memorable in the last few moments.
The UCB, or Upright Citizens Brigade for long, is an excellent sketch comedy troupe/series/theatre that first caught my eye during it’s run on Comedy Central. Literally taking sketch comedy to the streets set this crew apart, often conducting performances in public spaces with unsuspecting viewers/participants. The show didn’t feature this aspect enough, but it was a hoot none-the-less. Check it out.
Some of them are now very familiar faces, in particular Amy Poehler, who remains a highlight of the current SNL line-up, while others have popped up elsewhere. Honor their roots and visit the UCB Theatre if in New York or LA. It’s cheap and your stomach and the space behind your ears will hurt from laughing.
If you’re lucky I just might post the skit on ass pennies one of these days.

comedy clip: Will Ferrell is the most disturbing Yoga student ever on SNL

What can I say about this special little clip? Well, pretty much nothing. It speaks for itself and what it says is this: “I’m disturbing.”
