The Bob Lamonta Story - Mr. Show

Certain aspects of the classic Mr. Show ‘The Bob Lamonta Story’ sketch came up naturally in conversation today at lunch as something one of the crew recollected from youth, which is a little surprising once you actually watch the clip. I instantly made the connection between the experience and this absurd sketch, much to my amusement. Who knew Mr. Show traveled down Aristotle’s mimetic path?
You’ll have to watch and decide which absurd element was our topic of discussion.

how to fight a bear and live

Bears fighting bears is a pretty awesome sight in nature and a meaty display of raw power, pointy teeth and pungent bear hair:


Which makes the fact that a Canadian named Troy Hurtubise felt it would be a good idea to build a suit (for $100,000) that would allow him, a human, to step in a take on a bear and live to tell about it, all the more amazing. Project Grizzly was born. I’m not kidding here, this guy is the real deal:

The highlight of the movie has to be the test scenes. These are absolutely nuts:

Find this movie if you can and watch it! You owe it to yourself and Troy. My copy was stolen and it makes me so angry I would fight a…a…a…bear.
